Scaffold Safety
According to the Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration, 54% of falls from scaffold construction sites are due to a collapse of the scaffold structure. Additionally, the fatality rate for falls over 25 feet is 55%. Construction site safety is nothing to take lightly. One of the most important things you can do for your construction site is provide your workers with safe and well-built scaffold structures.
Scaffold Weight Restrictions
One of the most important things to remember when utilizing scaffold safety is to obey the weight restrictions of the scaffold structure. Scaffolding must support your own weight and four times the maximum intended load. Included in this weight are your tools, materials and anything else that is on the platform with you. To keep this weight at a minimum, try to keep the platform or series bridge free of all debris and excess materials.
Scaffold Support
Another important thing to remember with regards to scaffold safety is ensuring the support system is secure. This requires that the base of the scaffold be on level and stable ground. Never mount a scaffold on an insecure structure or on rough terrain. Also, make sure the platform is being held by sturdy framework. If parts or areas of a scaffold are insecure, you may need to readjust. It‘s important to use brands you know and can trust when considering your workers' safety. It can make perfectly smooth straight cuts in seconds. With these bandsaws you can cut angles and/or thin strips for custom trim work with ease. You can even make your own notched core blocks and u-blocks out of regular solid blocks to save money.
All Lissmac bandaws come with a sliding table that really takes the work out of it and keeps the blocks straight during cutting. They all have wheels and most will fit through a standard door opening. They also come with a lifting hook for use with either a forklift or crane.
